چکیده
The hypothesis tested was that tropical steers supplemented with the Desmanthus legume and lucerne, a widely characterized temperate of high nutritive value, would elicit similar responses in plasma metabolite profiles, productive performance, nitrogen retention, volatile fatty acids (VFA). tannin-binding compound, polyethylene glycol-4000 (PEG), added to diets (160 g/kg dry matter) objective further exploring (N) utilization animals relative lucerne. From February June 2020, sixteen yearling Brangus (average liveweight 232 ± 6 kg) were fed background diet Rhodes grass (Chloris gayana) hay for 28 days, before introducing three cultivars (Desmanthus virgatus cv. JCU2, D. bicornutus JCU4, leptophyllus JCU7) lucerne (Medicago sativa) at 30% matter intake (DMI). Relative backgrounding period, all exhibited growth performance. Steers recorded lower DMI animal but higher fecal N concentration than Among cultivars, there no significant differences concentrations, VFA, profiles. addition PEG induced rumen iso-acid concentrations excretion. However, feeding spp. Bos indicus could be valuable means increasing utilization, which is attributable presence tannins, and, consequently, improve Since supplementation resulted liveweight, daily gains, overall performance supplementing Desmanthus, both supplements will does not hold must rejected. Further vivo investigation needed better understand impact tannins on utilization.

Effects of rumen-protected polyunsaturated fatty acid supplementation on reproductive performance of Bos indicus beef cows.
Five experiments evaluated the effects of rumen-protected PUFA supplementation on reproductive function of Bos indicus beef cows. In Exp. 1, 910 lactating primiparous Nelore cows were randomly assigned to receive 0.4 kg/d of a protein-mineral mix in addition to 0.1 kg/d of a rumen-inert PUFA source (PF) or 0.1 kg/d of kaolin (rumen-inert indigestible substance; control), from the beginning of e...
متن کاملDetailed Dimethylacetal and Fatty Acid Composition of Rumen Content from Lambs Fed Lucerne or Concentrate Supplemented with Soybean Oil
Lipid metabolism in the rumen is responsible for the complex fatty acid profile of rumen outflow compared with the dietary fatty acid composition, contributing to the lipid profile of ruminant products. A method for the detailed dimethylacetal and fatty acid analysis of rumen contents was developed and applied to rumen content collected from lambs fed lucerne or concentrate based diets suppleme...

Changes in the total concentration of the volatile fatty acid (VFA) pool in the rumen were followed over a 24 hour period in 2 groups of sheep, 1 fed at 08h00 and the other twice daily at 08h00 and 20h00. Although similar maximum (143 and 147 meq/1) and average (100, 3 and 102, 1 meq/1) levels were found in the 12 and 24 h groups respectively, the twice daily feeding regimen resulted in a lower...

The eukaryotic cell membrane possesses numerous complex functions, which are essential for life. At this, the composition and the structure of the lipid bilayer are of particular importance. Polyunsaturated fatty acids may modulate the physical properties of biological membranes via alteration of membrane lipid composition affecting numerous physiological processes, e.g. in the immune system. I...
